THE SHOW MUST GO ON…

Missing-Milk-Carton-psd53543Even though the absence of our “milk carton” president Eric was slightly noticed, past-president Jeff picked up the gavel and kept the meeting going.

The room was packed with members and guests, with all three tables being utilized.  Visiting Rotarian Mike Nicosin (Funeral Services – Concord) was the lone visitor.  Henry Valdez, our Wakayama Exchange Student, brought along his mom Margaret, and his sister RachelEllen Williams also brought along husband Brad Macy, son Andy and granddaughter Danielle to hear Henry’s presentation on his Wakayama visit.  Danielle is a sophomore at Concord High School and interested in possibly applying for the trip in the coming years.

Eric has been heard of, although nobody can actually pin down his physical location.  His last message, as noted in an earlier message on this website, claimed that whatever his mission was had been accomplished.  According to the TMZ Celebrity Website, they didn’t know who Eric was, and suggested we call someone who cares.  Our sources with the TSA (Trash & Sanitation Association) mentioned that they think Eric will return to the podium this coming Wednesday.

HAPPY DOLLARS

Members were happy, even in Eric’s absence:

  • Edi – is off to Paris for a Diplomacy Tournament & grandson Cody is enrolled for another year at Diablo Valley College.
  • MikeOuimet Bros. Funeral Home is finally “whole” after a teenager attempted to  install a drive-through
  • Kian – Glad to be back from conference, and he brought back some new toys to Momentum Fitness! (Kathy & Beri had a distinct look of fear, since they work out with him)
  • Beri – Happy to hear two of her Camp Venture Campers present their experience at their sponsoring Rotary Club this week.

SPEAKING OF WAKAYAMA…

Henry Valdez came back to the club to tell us about his “life changing” experience with the Wakayama West Rotary Club.  He said he was treated like a king!  He got to meet many new people, not to mention the ability to stay with six families.

Turns out that Henry is quite the photographer, too.  He took over 600 photos on his trip!  (View them all here!) He said his favorite experiences were getting to meet so many wonderful people and the opportunity to try so many different types of food, and being able to see so many beautiful places! (Translation – he had a wonderful time!)

Henry’s mother Margaret, thanked the clubs as well for taking such good care of her son.  He learned a great deal, and grew a lot too as a result of his trip.

Thanks to all of you, and to the Wakayama-West Club for making this cultural exchange such a success!

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

Will Eric be able to get back to the podium?  What will happen?  Only one thing is sure, our speaker will be Dr. Tommy Lee Wolf talking about Chiropractic Health.  Remember to SHARE ROTARY!
