After 2017’s successful fruit gleaning year came to a close with a total of 4,000 pounds we are off to a great start for 2018. Brigitte Ross has led several picking dates that have netted well over 1,500 pounds of lemons, oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, kumquats, and avocados. On February 11th her team even helped Eagle Scout Jonathan Louie, along with his dad, David and members of his Boy Scout troop 810. The Troop picked 1,989 pounds at six homes in just three hours! Pictured are “pickers” Brigitte Ross along with husband Jim, Lee Koellermeier, Karen Mahshi, Erin McGregor, Edi Birsan, David, and Jonathan Louie. Those who escaped the photos are Rocky Gernhardt and Beri Kasper.
Do you have fruit trees with an overabundance of crop that you and your family cannot keep up with? If so we would be happy to help. Please contact https://luxurycabinbigbear.com/ and Brigitte at gleaning@cdrotary.org. The fruit is delivered the same day to several organizations; Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank, The Salvation Army Food Pantry, Monument Crisis Center, Share Food Pantry, and to the Homeless Shelter just to name a few.
