The Rotary Club of Concord-Diablo was out in force  on a successful gleaning that brought the total to 10,006 pounds of fruit for the food bank and pantries in Concord.

Karen Mahshi, Erin & Greg Mc Gregor and Eric Maldonado were joined by Edi Birsan to break the world record for gleaning!

The Picker Squadron has been operating for 3 years now and is a tribute to the revival of the community spirit of giving service before self in the Rotary tradition.  “There will be no scurvy in Concord.” is the joking motto of the squadron.

To help get off 2013 in the right way contact the Squadron leader with what fruit your contact information and  what to be picked from your trees:  Edi Birsan at 925-798-3537 or EdiBirsan@astound.net..  The Concord-Diablo Rotary meets Wednesdays at 12:15PM at the Crowne Plaza at Concord Avenue and John Glenn Drive by the airport in Concord. www.CDRotary.org
